About bamboo charcoal
For centuries bamboo has been treasured for its healing powers, beauty and adaptability. When put through a special heating process, bamboo charcoal becomes a valuable by-product of natural bamboo. Its powerful absorption properties purify the air and drinking water, remove moisture, odours and harmful chemicals, absorb electromagnetic waves and create a nutrient-rich product with lasting health benefits.
The absorption strength of bamboo charcoal is amazing. With billions of porous pockets, one gram of bamboo charcoal laid flat covers a football field. The micro-pores within the bamboo, work together to absorb chloride, sulfide and formaldehyde as well as strong smells, humidity and electromagnetic waves from household appliances and computers. Such is the versatility of beautiful bamboo.
Growing naturally
Pure Bamboo sources its natural product (Moso Bamboo) from Taiwan from environmentally-friendly, pesticide-free plantation forest programs. The regular regeneration of these plantations creates vibrant social businesses for local people and their families.
Bamboo also generates more oxygen than other trees and small bamboo forests reduce the temperature in the immediate area by as much as 10 degrees.
Bamboo is becoming a popular material of choice due to its fast growth, incredible strength, durability and versatility. Not to mention, a wide range of health and lifestyle benefits from bamboo products such as bamboo charcoal.
Creating bamboo charcoal
Bamboo charcoal is created in four stages according to temperature. The first involves a slow drying process to remove water while retaining the integrity of the bamboo. The second stage further heats the bamboo and changes the chemical composition of the product. The third stage transforms the bamboo into liquids, gas and solid matter. And the fourth stage refines the bamboo, emits unwanted substances and creates the charcoal bamboo which is then shaped into various sizes for use in homes and offices. Bamboo charcoal is 10 times more porous than traditional charcoal.
